An Azure platform as a service offer that is used to deploy web and cloud applications.
If the original subscription has reached its 12-month anniversary, sign in with the same Microsoft account, apply for Azure for Students again, and complete academic verification with your institution’s email address.
Check and renew
- In the Azure portal, open Subscriptions, select the previous Azure for Students subscription, and note:
- Start or activation date
- Current status
- Subscription ID
- If 12 months have elapsed, sign up again from the Azure for Students offer page while signed in with the original Microsoft account. Microsoft permits renewal after one year and normally sends reminder emails shortly before the anniversary.^1^
- Complete academic verification using your active institutional email address. Eligibility requires full-time attendance at an accredited, degree-granting two- or four-year institution and verification through the institution’s email system. The offer is limited to one subscription per eligible customer.^2^
Microsoft’s published requirements do not identify Kyrgyzstan itself as a reason for rejection. Whether your institution and email can be validated must be determined during the application process.
If renewal still says “not eligible”
Request an eligibility review through Azure portal → Help + support → Create a support request. Include:
- Subscription ID
- Original activation date
- Screenshot of the eligibility message
- Institutional email domain
- Confirmation that the same Microsoft account was used for the original subscription
- Proof of current full-time enrollment if requested
A matching Microsoft Q&A resolution recommends support review when the anniversary has been reached and the eligibility error remains despite meeting the student requirements.^3^
When restoration or renewal is not available
- Less than 12 months since activation: Renewal is not available yet, even if the original $100 credit was exhausted. The immediate supported option for continuing the VM is upgrading the subscription to pay-as-you-go.^1^
- Accidentally canceled: Azure Support can reactivate the subscription, preserving only the remaining credit and services within the original 12-month term.^4^
- Credit expired or was exhausted: This does not reset the annual benefit. Upgrade to pay-as-you-go if the VM is needed before the renewal date. Charges then apply at pay-as-you-go rates.^4^
- Student status cannot be verified: The subscription cannot be renewed. Azure for Students supplies $100 for 12 months and allows renewal only while student eligibility remains valid.^5^
Do not create another identity to bypass the eligibility message: the offer is limited to one Azure for Students subscription per eligible customer.^6^
