How can I resolve error code -2147221232 in Azure Universal Print?

Error code -2147221232 (0x80040110, E_PDFIUM_UNHANDLED_EXCEPTIONS) means the Universal Print connector hit an internal exception while trying to print a PDF file.

Supported mitigation:

1. Try printing the document again.
2. If the issue persists, restart the Print Connector Service.
3. If restarting the service is the only temporary fix and the error continues to recur, contact Microsoft Support.

Since this error is specifically tied to PDF processing in the connector, also verify the connector health:

1. Confirm the Print Connector service (PrintConnectorSvc.exe) and Spooler (Spoolsv.exe) are running.
2. Check that the latest connector version is installed.
3. Review the connector event log:
   • Open Run
   • Execute: eventvwr /c:Microsoft-Windows-PrintConnector/Operational
4. Look for job-related events such as:
   • Event 22: job waiting
   • Event 25: print started
   • Event 10: job sent to Spooler
5. If the failure is limited to one PDF, re-save or re-export that PDF and test again, because nearby PDFIUM error codes in the same troubleshooting set indicate corrupted files or invalid print options can also cause PDF print failures.

If print jobs generally do not complete successfully, also check:

1. The job appears in Azure Portal > Printers > target printer > Job.
