Issues or errors on the Microsoft Q&A website.
There is no documented self-service operation to re-index a Microsoft Learn profile; test the failure in a private browser session, then report it as a Learn platform issue if newly saved items still disappear.
Isolate the account from local browser state
- Open an InPrivate/Incognito window.
- Sign in directly to Microsoft Learn using the same account associated with the affected profile.
- Go to Profile → Collections → +New Collection and create a temporary collection.
- Open a Microsoft Learn module or learning path, select +Add, select the temporary collection, and choose Save.
- Wait several seconds, refresh the collection page, and check whether the item appears.
Microsoft recommends private browsing or clearing browser cookies/cache for several sign-in and state-saving failures. It also notes that saved progress can take a few seconds to register before refreshing.^1^
If this works privately, the account data is probably still available and the problem is associated with the normal browser session. Sign out there, clear site data for Microsoft Learn, disable privacy/content-blocking extensions for the site, and sign in again.
If the private-session test also fails
Treat it as a Microsoft Learn service or profile-data issue rather than recreating all your existing collections:
- Record the affected collection URL and the URL of one module that fails to save.
- Capture the exact Plans error, date/time with time zone, browser/version, and a screenshot showing the successful-save notification followed by 0 items.
- Press F12, open Console and Network, reproduce the save once, and capture any failed request and its status code. Remove tokens, cookies, email addresses, or other personal data before sharing.
- Use Report feedback at the bottom of a Learn training unit. Microsoft states that these reports are reviewed but are one-way communication, so a personal response should not be expected.^1^
- Add these reproduction steps to the existing Q&A post, including whether the private-window test produced the same result. A closely matching report exists for Collections not displaying while signed in, but it has no accepted or recommended repair procedure.^2^
Do not post account IDs, authentication traces, or unredacted network exports publicly.
Why Plans also fail
Plans are created by first saving Learn content to a Collection and then copying that Collection into a Plan. Therefore, an empty or non-persisting Collection prevents the normal Plan creation workflow.^3^
The documented Collection workflow supports modules, learning paths, documentation, and other Learn content: select +Add, choose a collection, and select Save.^4^ Because that workflow already displays success but the collection remains empty, repeatedly creating Plans or changing collection sections is unlikely to address the underlying failure.
The URL-format change is not enough to establish that the profile index is desynchronized. Similar Collections/Plans display incidents have later recovered without an account-side repair, indicating that a platform incident is also possible.^5^
