We have set up authorized users to edit business hours in Teams AA's. The capability used to be there (IIRC) but now hours can no longer be edited. Has anything changed?

Policies have been created and premium licenses assigned to the auth users

    Hello Uhlir, Scott

First, I am not aware of any recent change that removes the ability for authorized users to edit Auto Attendant business hours. Microsoft documentation still lists business hours management as a supported capability for authorized users.

Since you have already created the voice applications policy and assigned the required Teams Premium licenses, you may want to verify a few other points:

1/ Verify that the user is still assigned as an Authorized User on the specific Auto Attendant

    • In the Teams admin center, open Voice > Auto attendants, select the affected Auto Attendant, and then open the Authorized users section. Please verify that the affected user is still listed there.
    • Even if the user has the correct Voice Applications Policy and Teams Premium license, they must also be explicitly assigned as an authorized user for that specific Auto Attendant.

Setup - Auto Attendant - Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Learn

2/ Check whether other Auto Attendant settings can still be modified

    • Sign in as one of the affected authorized users and navigate to the Auto Attendant management experience in Microsoft Teams.
    • Please check whether the user can still modify other settings, such as greetings, call routing, or holiday schedules.
    • If those settings are available and can be saved successfully, but Business Hours cannot be edited, that would help isolate the issue to the business-hours functionality rather than the overall authorized-user configuration.

3/ Compare the experience in both the Teams desktop client and Teams web client

Please test using both clients and check whether the Business hours option is missing or unavailable in both places. This can help determine whether the issue is related to the client experience or the service configuration.

4/ If any permissions or assignments were changed recently, allow time for replication

After waiting for the changes to propagate, have the user sign out of Microsoft Teams, sign back in, and test again. Policy and authorization changes may not take effect immediately across all services.

For further assistance, could you also confirm whether the Business Hours option is missing entirely, or whether users can see it but receive an error when attempting to make changes? That detail may help identify whether this is a configuration issue or a potential service-side problem.

    Kind regards,

The capability has not been removed; enable Business hours—not merely Business hours greeting—in the affected users’ custom Teams voice applications policy.

    Correct the policy permission

    These are separate permissions:

    • Business hours greeting changes only the greeting.
    • Business hours changes the Auto Attendant schedule and maps to AllowAutoAttendantBusinessHoursChange; this capability requires Teams Premium. ^1^

    In the Teams admin center:

    1. Go to Voice > Voice applications policies.
    2. Select the custom policy assigned to the affected users and choose Edit.
    3. Under Auto attendants – Features, turn on Business hours.
    4. Select Save.
    5. Verify that this exact custom policy is assigned individually to each affected user.

Do not modify the global policy: its configuration-change capabilities are disabled by default, and Microsoft recommends creating and assigning a custom policy. ^1^

    Verify the Auto Attendant assignment

A voice applications policy alone is insufficient. For every affected Auto Attendant:

    1. Go to Teams admin center > Voice > Auto attendants.
    2. Open the Auto Attendant.
    3. Under Authorized users, verify that each affected user is assigned.
    4. Save the Auto Attendant configuration.

The user must have both a qualifying voice applications policy and an authorized-user assignment on at least one Auto Attendant or Call Queue. ^2^

After making changes, have the user completely sign out of the Teams desktop client and sign back in. Microsoft documents that the delegated configuration options become available after this refresh. ^3^

    User path for editing hours

    In the Teams client:

    1. Select Settings and more (…) > Settings.
    2. Select Calls > Manage business and after hours.
    3. Select the relevant Auto Attendant tab.
    4. Select Manage hours.
    5. Choose Open same hours every day, Open different hours every day, or Open 24 hours.
    6. Configure the enabled days and time ranges; use Add for split ranges such as a lunch closure. ^4^

    Conditional prerequisite checks

Since Teams Premium is already assigned, check the remaining documented setup requirements if Manage hours is still absent:

    • Assign Teams Phone if the affected user does not have it.
    • In Teams admin center > Users > Manage users, select the user, then under Account > Assigned phone number, turn Enterprise Voice on and save.
    • Ensure the user has a phone number assigned. These are included in Microsoft’s authorized-user setup sequence. ^3^

If users are accessing the feature through the Queues app, both Teams Phone and Teams Premium are explicitly required, the user must be voice-enabled, and Teams Premium provisioning can take up to 48 hours. The Queues app is not supported in the Teams web client, so test with a supported Teams client instead. ^5^

Also check whether the Auto Attendant is nested without a resource account. That configuration cannot be edited by authorized users through the Queues app. ^5^

    If the option remains unavailable

After correcting the permission, completing the prerequisites, signing back in, and allowing the 48-hour Queues app provisioning period where applicable, have a Microsoft 365 administrator open a support request from Microsoft 365 admin center > Support > Help & support for tenant-level investigation.

    Include:

    • Affected users and Auto Attendant names or IDs
    • Assigned voice applications policy and enabled settings
    • Teams Phone/Premium and voice-enablement details
    • Teams client platform and version
    • Failure timestamps and screenshots
    • Relevant Teams client logs

Help > Give feedback in Teams can additionally report a product issue, but it is not a substitute for a Microsoft Support case.
