Initial steps or instructions to begin using Microsoft Q&A
The old TechNet Forums profile and its complete “My Threads” list cannot be restored, but individual surviving discussions can be located through Microsoft’s read-only MSDN and TechNet Forums archive.
Find surviving Lync threads
- Open the MSDN TechNet Forums archive.
- Select Office, because the archive has no separate Lync category.
- Search the archived pages for distinctive words from a question title, error message, product version, or configuration mentioned in the post.
- Also search Microsoft Learn/Q&A using:
- The old username:
adilahmed - A remembered thread title or phrase
-
site:learn.microsoft.com/en-us/archive/msdn-technet-forums adilahmed
- The old username:
- Search old email notifications and browser bookmarks. A direct thread URL, GUID, or exact title provides a better chance of finding an archived copy than the former user-profile URL.
Microsoft lists MSDN and TechNet Forums as discontinued, archived content ^1^. The dedicated archive contains only selected product categories, including Office, Windows, SQL Server, and others; it does not provide a user-profile lookup or a way to reconstruct the former profile’s thread list ^2^.
If a thread is not in the archive
Old TechNet articles were not fully migrated into Microsoft Q&A ^3^. Therefore:
- Missing threads cannot normally be recovered or reattached to the current Microsoft Learn profile.
- If the information is still needed, create a new Microsoft Q&A question with the appropriate current product tags.
- Include any remembered title, error text, product version, and configuration details so the old discussion can potentially be identified or the issue answered again.
