Authenticated users can’t delete or restore content themselves. Only Microsoft moderators and volunteer moderators can delete any content, view deleted content, and restore deleted content from the moderation queue.
For a deleted post like this, the supported path is:
- Report the content for moderation.
- In the report dialog, choose the most appropriate reason and use the details field to state that the question appears to have been removed in error and needs moderator review.
- Optionally provide an email address in the report flow if updates on the case are needed.
- A moderator reviews the content and can act on it.
If the deletion was a mistake, moderators can restore it from the Deleted tab in the moderation queue by using Undo delete, or they can edit deleted content and restore it when submitting the updated version.
Relevant limits and behavior:
- A user can’t undo a report action after submitting it.
- Non-moderators can’t see indications of deleted answers or comments from other users.
- Content authors can see their own deleted content.
- Moderators can see deleted content, including who deleted it, when it was deleted, and the reason.
There are also documented examples where posts were automatically deleted by the system and later restored by moderators after review.
