Azure for Students eligibility denied despite verified GitHub Student Developer Pack

Hi Microsoft Support Team,

I am a university student in China, and my GitHub Student Developer Pack was successfully approved on October 16, 2026.

However, when I try to activate Azure for Students through the official GitHub Education offer, I receive the following error:

"You're not eligible for an Azure free account."

Here are the details:

  • My GitHub student status has been verified and my benefits are active.
  • I connected the same verified GitHub account during Azure registration.
  • I have never previously registered for an Azure free account or Azure for Students.
  • I also tried using a private browsing window and the official student verification link, but received the same error.
  • My Microsoft account may have originally been registered with the United States as its region, while I am currently studying in China.

Could you please help me identify why my application was rejected and whether my account requires a manual eligibility review?

    GitHub Student Developer Pack approval does not automatically guarantee Azure for Students eligibility, as Microsoft performs separate account and regional verification.

    Since you're studying in China but your Microsoft account may be registered in the United States, I recommend verifying your account region, checking Azure for Students availability in your region, and trying registration with your university email address.

    If the error persists, contact Azure subscription support and request an eligibility review. Include your GitHub verification confirmation and the exact error message. Only Microsoft Support can confirm the reason for rejection.
