Azure for Students signup fails with unexpected error after academic verification

I am a currently enrolled B.Tech student at SRM University-AP, India.

I previously had an Azure for Students subscription, which was cancelled on 24 December 2025. According to Microsoft's email, the subscription data and services were deleted on 24 March 2026.

I am trying to sign up for Azure for Students again. My academic status was previously verified, and I received and activated the verification link. However, the subscription never appeared in my Azure portal.

When I try to sign up again, the verification page displays the following error:

"We encountered an unexpected error. Try again later."

I have also tried using a private browser window, but the same error persists. The Azure portal shows no active subscription, and I have been unable to find a working support channel to resolve this issue.
