Welcome to Microsoft Q&A,
@Greg Phillips I hope you are doing well today,
Unlike Azure Reservations, an Azure Savings Plan cannot normally be canceled, exchanged, or refunded after purchase. The primary option when the plan is no longer needed is to turn off automatic renewal and allow the current term to expire.
To disable renewal:
- Open Azure portal → Savings plans.
- Select the savings plan.
- Select Renewal.
- Disable Automatically renew this savings plan.
The existing savings plan continues until its expiration date. After it expires, eligible resources are charged at pay-as-you-go rates unless you purchase another savings plan.
You can still change the plan's scope while it is active, which may allow the commitment to be used by other eligible resources. However, the hourly commitment, term length, and billing frequency cannot normally be changed after purchase.
One exception is certain billing-agreement transfers, where Microsoft documents cancellation and repurchase options for savings plans as part of the transfer process.
