I signed up for a free trial of Premium Copilot but it has not been applied to my laptop. My laptop currently uses the profile of my old email and I used a new email for this Copilot upgrade. If this is causing the disconnect, what can I do to fix it?

Yes. Using a different account can cause this.

    Try these steps:

    1. Sign in with the account that has the Premium trial
      • Go to https://microsoft365.com.
      • Check the profile icon in the upper-right corner.
      • If the laptop is signed in with the old email, select the profile icon and choose Sign in with a different account.
      • Sign in with the new email that was used for the Premium Copilot trial.
    2. Make sure personal and work/school accounts are not being mixed
      • Personal accounts and work or school accounts stay separate.
      • Use the account switcher to confirm the correct account is active.
    3. If a non-Microsoft email was used for the new subscription, link it if eligible
      • In new Outlook, go to View tab > View settings or File tab > Account info.
      • Select Accounts > Your accounts.
      • Choose the account and select Manage.
      • Select Link Accounts.
      • This option appears only if there is a Microsoft 365 subscription on a Microsoft account with the same email identity as the third-party mail account.
    4. Check whether the subscription type supports the Copilot feature being expected
      • Copilot in Microsoft 365 is accessed by signing in with the Microsoft account at https://microsoft365.com.
      • For Microsoft 365 Personal, Family, or Premium, some Copilot benefits in desktop apps are limited to the subscription owner.
    5. If the issue is in a web app, allow third-party cookies
      • License validation in Microsoft 365 web apps requires browser support for third-party cookies.
      • In Microsoft Edge: Settings and More > Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Manage and delete cookies and site data > set Block third-party cookies to Off.
    6. If Copilot still does not appear correctly, report it from the Copilot app
      • Select the ellipsis () in the upper-right corner.
      • Select Send feedback > Report a problem.
      • Include when the problem started, device and operating system details, and a screenshot.

If the laptop is still signed into the old email in Windows or Microsoft 365 apps, the Premium trial on the new email will not apply until the apps are using the same account that holds the trial.
