"Set Microsoft Edge as your default PDF viewer" How do I turn off this advertisement?

I do not open Edge to be advertised at or receive 'reminders' that lead to me being advertised at.
I specifically stopped using Edge as a default PDF viewer because of the unwelcome low IQ Adobe advertisements all over the PDF handling page, and the performance was significantly worse. I don't have time for the browser to become unresponsive for 20+ seconds when I'm dumb enough to open a PDF document in Edge.

How do I turn off this obnoxious advertising message? User's image

    Hello Scallywag,

I understand that Microsoft Edge keeps displaying a prompt asking to become the default PDF reader.

First, please confirm that your preferred PDF app is properly registered. Right-click any PDF file, select Open with > Choose another app, choose your PDF reader, enable Always use this app to open .pdf files, and select OK.

If the prompt continues, repair Edge through Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Microsoft Edge > Modify > Repair. After the repair finishes, set your preferred PDF reader again under Settings > Apps > Default apps by searching for .pdf.

You can also reset Edge from Edge Settings > Reset settings > Restore settings to their default values. This keeps your favorites and saved passwords but resets browser settings.

Note: If this is a work-managed device, your organization may control the default PDF app. In that case, please contact your IT administrator for assistance.

Please let me know how it goes after trying these steps, and I'll be glad to continue looking into it with you.
