How to change prior telephone number on 2 step verification to current telephone number

How do I change my prior telephone number associated with my Microsoft account, in the 2-step verification process? I would like to have this feature removed completely, so as to have a more streamlined process logging on.

    Hello

    Can you still log into your account with other authentication method? If so, go to https://account.live.com > Security > Manage how I sign in, you can add new methods there then remove the old outdated one.

    However, I do want to bring this to your attention, for personal Microsoft accounts, Microsoft now says you can no longer add a phone number as a new security method. This method is being phased out. See official document here.

    You will have to use althernative email address, authenticator app or passkey.
