I have an active Visual Studio Enterprise (MSDN) subscription, but the Azure subscription associated with it no longer has an Owner assignment available to me. Subscription Name: Visual Studio Enterprise. Do I need to request our organization team or get any help from Microsoft side to reassign the owner role for free MSDN visual studio enterprise azure subscription?

If the Azure subscription no longer shows an Owner assignment for the account, the recovery path depends on what access still exists.

    • If a Global Administrator still exists in the same Microsoft Entra tenant, that admin can restore access by elevating access and then assigning the Owner role on the subscription.
      1. In Azure portal, go to Microsoft Entra ID > Properties.
      2. Set Access management for Azure resources to Yes and save.
      3. Then go to Subscriptions > the affected subscription > Access control (IAM).
      4. Add the required account back to the Owner role.
    • If another existing Owner or User Access Administrator already has access on the subscription, that person can reassign the Owner role.
    • If the Visual Studio subscription was purchased and assigned by the organization, the Visual Studio subscription admin might need to help if the subscription assignment itself was changed or reassigned.
    • If the issue is with the Visual Studio subscription entitlement rather than Azure RBAC, check with the organization’s Visual Studio subscription admin. If the admin is unknown, a colleague with a subscription can use the Contact my Admin option in the portal.
    • For sales, account, and billing help related to Visual Studio subscriptions, Microsoft provides support through the Visual Studio subscription support channels.

For a free MSDN/Visual Studio Azure subscription, Microsoft-side reassignment of the Azure Owner role is not described as the normal first step in the available guidance. The documented first step is to work through an existing Global Administrator, Owner, User Access Administrator, or the organization’s Visual Studio subscription admin.
