Are you running Home edition now? If so, is Home edition already activated?

If so, you don't even need the USB media. You can go to Settings > System > Activation > Change product key

Disconnect internet, and disable any third party antivirus, key in the generic key instead: VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T

That should get you to Pro. Once restarted, you can connect back to the internet, sign into your Microsoft account. See if it is activated.

Yes. A clean install is not required to upgrade Windows 11 Home to Windows 11 Pro.

Use the product key from the Windows 11 Pro package to perform an edition upgrade:

    1. Make sure Windows 11 is fully updated:
      • Start > Settings > Windows Update
      • Select Check for updates
    2. Go to Start > Settings > Activation.
    3. If Upgrade your edition of Windows appears, expand it.
    4. Next to Change product key, select Change.
    5. If prompted by User Account Control, approve it with an administrator account.
    6. Enter the Windows 11 Pro product key from the package.
    7. Select Next.
    8. If the key is valid, select Start or Activate to begin the edition upgrade.

This upgrades the installed edition from Home to Pro without a clean installation.

The USB media can also be used to upgrade Windows from a previous version by running setup.exe from within Windows, but for a Home-to-Pro edition upgrade, the documented path is entering the Pro product key in Settings > Activation.

If the copy of Pro was obtained through certain purchase methods, activation may use either a digital license or a product key, depending on how Windows 11 Pro was acquired.
