Cursor blinks when I type in Microsoft word

Every time I type, the cursor blinks. This happened in word on my old computer as well. I want the cursor to disappear when I type, but instead it blinks. It's distracting. I have a brand new Mac.

Please fix this or I'm going to unsubscribe and move to pages.

The blinking insertion point is a standard part of a word processor interface. It allows users to see where text will be entered without actually having to type text to find the insertion point. Word has been working like this since it was invented and is unlikely to change. Pages does the same thing, whether you insert a text box in page layout mode or type text in word processor mode.

    **> System Settings> Accessibility> Display**, enable the toggle for Prefer non-blinking cursor. [This setting may vary depending on specific macOS version.] Note that this is a global setting which affects cursor behavior in all programs.

    Are there options to control this in macOS settings? Are you saying that Word doesn't honor those settings?
