no audio on laptop

To be able to assist you better, please clarify the following:

• Are you trying to play audio via internal speakers or external speakers?
• If it is an external speaker, does it have a standard audio connector (Jack connector) or a USB connector?
• Is there a red circle with an "X" over the speaker icon next to the clock? (When you hover your mouse over it, does it say "No audio output device is installed"?)

Also, share a screenshot of your system information.

• Press "Windows + R", type msinfo32 and press Enter.

Maximize the window and use the shortcut "Windows + Shift + S" to use the screenshot tool.

Please try this:

Open Device Manager, and make sure you've audio drivers installed and properly working.

If no audio driver is listed, you can visit your device manufacturer's website to download and install audio drivers for your system model.

If audio driver is present, you can try updating audio drivers to latest version.

Or if you've already updated them, try to roll back previous version to see if that works.

Also, run Playing Audio troubleshooter from Settings app > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters. Let us know what it reports back.
