Hello Team,

We have identified an issue in Microsoft Excel after upgrading Microsoft Office 2021 to Version 2108 (Build 14334.20906), released on September 8, 2026.

Issue Details

  • Ctrl + C / Ctrl + V (Copy-Paste) is not working properly in Excel.
  • Copy-Paste between Excel cells/workbooks is affected.
  • Formula dragging using the Fill Handle is not working as expected.
  • AutoFill functionality is impacted.
  • In some cases, users are also unable to cancel the copied-cell selection using the Esc key.
  • The issue has been reported across multiple systems, indicating that it may be related to the recent Microsoft update rather than an individual system issue.

Troubleshooting Performed

  • Restarted Excel and the affected systems.
  • Performed Office Repair.
  • Disabled Excel add-ins.
  • Tested with different keyboards.

Important Observation

When we roll back to Version 2108 (Build 14334.20848), the issue is resolved and Ctrl+C / Ctrl+V work normally again. This suggests that the problem may be related to changes introduced in Build 14334.20906.

Workaround

For anyone who wants to roll back to Version 2108 (Build 14334.20848), open Command Prompt as Administrator and run the following command:

"C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\ClickToRun\OfficeC2RClient.exe" /update user updatetoversion=16.0.14334.20848

Has anyone else experienced this issue after updating to Build 14334.20906? Is there any known workaround, fix, or acknowledgment from Microsoft regarding this behavior?

Thank you.

I also have CTRL D and CTRL R not working.

CTRL C puts the data in the clipboard but CTRL V will not paste it. Windows V shows the data but it will not paste back into Excel. From Windows V I can paste to other apps but not with CTRL V.

CTRL X will cut the data and then CTRL V will paste.

The Copy-Paste bug occurs in Version 2108 Build 14334.20906.

This issue can be temporarily resolved by rolling back to Version 16.0.14334.20848 using the command below.

@Pablo Rendón Thank you for your suggestion.

Must run in CMD with administrator privileges:

    "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\ClickToRun\OfficeC2RClient.exe" /update user updatetoversion=16.0.14334.20848

Anyone using Office 2024 LTSC needs to revert to an earlier version of Office.

Here is the command you must run in CMD with administrator privileges:

    "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\ClickToRun\OfficeC2RClient.exe" /update user updatetoversion=16.0.17932.20910

This will resolve the copy paste issue. Remember to disable automatic updates afterwards.

The Office 2024 LTSC build 17932.20976 has the same clipboard issues.
I posted about it on reddit.
