After Windows Update installed Realtek 8852BE Wireless LAN WiFi 6 PCI-E NIC driver version 6001.15.165.1500, my ASUS PC would no longer shut down normally.

Symptoms:

  • Start → Shut down caused the PC to immediately restart.
  • Holding Shift while clicking Shut down worked correctly.
  • Fast Startup was enabled.
  • sfc /scannow found no integrity violations.
  • powercfg /h off followed by powercfg /h on fixed the problem temporarily, but it returned.
  • Event Viewer repeatedly showed: NDIS – Event ID 10317 Microsoft Wi-Fi Direct Virtual Adapter #2 “The miniport has failed a power transition to operational power.”

Solution: Device Manager → Network adapters → Realtek 8852BE Wireless LAN WiFi 6 PCI-E NIC → Properties → Driver → Roll Back Driver.

After rolling back from 6001.15.165.1500, I restarted the PC and tested normal Shut down multiple times. The PC now shuts down correctly while Fast Startup remains enabled.

In my case, BitLocker errors appearing during the repeated restarts were a distraction. The actual shutdown problem was resolved by rolling back the Realtek Wi-Fi driver.

Hope this saves somebody a few hours of troubleshooting.

    Hello Fernando Salazar,

Thank the user for sharing their findings. The post describes a successful resolution by rolling back the Realtek 8852BE Wi‑Fi driver after a Windows Update introduced shutdown issues. This information may be useful to other Windows 11 Home users experiencing similar symptoms, particularly those seeing NDIS Event ID 10317 entries and unexpected restarts when selecting Shut down.
