Using Classic Outlook on Windows for personal email, calendar, and contact management
For classic Outlook on Windows, start with these checks in order:
- Check whether the items are hidden by a view filter.
- Open the affected Calendar folder.
- On the ribbon, select View > View Settings > Filter.
- Review the filter tabs for anything that could hide older items, especially date-based filters.
- Common filters that can hide items include Date received, Keywords, Read/Unread status, Sender/Recipient, Importance, and Size.
- Clear any filter that would exclude items before March 2026.
- Search the calendar for missing appointments.
- In Outlook on the web, open Calendar.
- Use the Search box and enter a keyword or phrase from one of the missing events.
- Press Enter.
- Search checks fields such as Subject, Location, Body, Attachments, Organizer, and Attendees.
- Check the Deleted Items folder.
- In Outlook, open Deleted Items.
- Look for missing calendar items.
- If found, move them back to Calendar.
- Recover items from the hidden Recoverable Items folder.
- In classic Outlook, make sure Outlook is online and connected to the mail server.
- Open Deleted Items.
- On the Home tab, select Recover Deleted Items From Server.
- Select the calendar items to restore, then select Restore Selected Items > OK.
- If the original folder no longer exists, recovered calendar items are restored to the calendar.
- If Deleted Items is shown as Trash, or Recover Deleted Items From Server is not available, that account does not support recovery from beyond Deleted Items.
- If the missing items are not found in the recovery window, contact the system administrator.
