Will Microsoft transcription ever be able to automatically email the attendees at end with a summary of action items like otter.ai? We would like to not have to use a 3rd party solution.

Teams can send a recap email manually, but automatic recap email delivery to attendees is not currently available.

What is available now:

In Teams, organizers, co-organizers, and presenters can open the event chat, go to Recap, then select Share > Share to email.
Teams drafts the Outlook email automatically with the meeting summary and follow-up tasks.
The recipients default to the people invited to the event, and the sender can edit the message and recipient list before sending.

Important limits:

This is not automatic at the end of the meeting.
Sharing AI summaries by email is unavailable in some cases, including certain sensitivity labels and when recording/transcription is unavailable or access is restricted.
Intelligent recap access is controlled by licensing and transcription policy; users with a Teams Premium or Microsoft Copilot license automatically have access to that feature.

A Microsoft Q&A answer also states that automatic meeting recap email to attendees is not yet available in Teams Premium.

Microsoft Teams currently provides meeting recap capabilities for meetings that are recorded or transcribed. Depending on the applicable licensing, features such as AI-generated summaries, notes, and follow-up tasks may also be available through Intelligent Recap. However, automatically emailing the completed recap and action items to all attendees at the end of the meeting is not currently available as a built-in option. Users can access the recap in Teams and share it manually when needed.

I agree that this would be a valuable addition to Microsoft Teams. Automatically distributing the meeting summary and assigned action items could reduce manual follow-up, help attendees stay aligned on responsibilities, and allow organizations to manage the entire post-meeting workflow within Microsoft 365 without relying on a third-party service.
