Where to download an earlier version of Word

I run Sequioa 15.7.7 on my 12 year old Mac. The most recent version of Word (August 2026) has become erratic with a real issue over highlighting text (it's a grey box). I need urgently (I have proofs of a book to correct asap) to download an early 2026 version, as a standalone?

There were 4 updates to Mac Office in August but you haven't specified which one you currently have. That one may be the problem.

However, note that on the page Dave provided the link to there is a September update. IMO you would do better to install that rather than reverting to an earlier release. It should be necessary to simply use Help> Check for Updates in the main menu of either Office program. Also, your cited version of Sequoia is behind as well. Version 15.7.9 is the current release.

On this link is a long table that contains all the available installers for the versions of Microsoft 365/Office that you can install on your MacOS Sequoia computer.
