Microsoft Edge doesn’t show the site certificate management option anymore

Dear community,

Since at least a couple of months ago, Edge exposed a site-specific certificate management option:

Lock icon -> Your certificate choices -> Reset certificate choices

This option was useful to clear a remembered client certificate selection for a specific website.

I noticed today on Edge 151.0.4129.78 that the option no longer appears (no longer « Your certificate choices »).

The new Certificate Manager pages still exist (edge://certificate-manager/clientcerts) but they only show installed certificates and do not provide any way to reset remembered certificate choices.

Questions:

Has "Reset certificate choices" been removed, relocated or renamed?
Is it controlled by an enterprise policy or feature flag?
Is this a known regression in Edge 151?
What is the supported method to clear remembered mTLS/client certificate selections for a specific site?

I can confirm that no obvious policy related to certificate choices is configured in edge://policy.

My current Edge version is: 151.0.4129.78

I understand that you are looking specifically for the per-site option to clear a remembered client-certificate selection, rather than to remove the installed certificate itself.

Before proceeding, could you confirm whether this is a personal, unmanaged Windows 11 computer or a device/profile managed by a workplace or another organization? Also, was the client certificate issued for access to an organizational website? Certificate selection can be affected by policies when a device or browser profile is managed.

For a personal, unmanaged device, please first update Microsoft Edge because version 151.0.4129.78 is no longer the latest build:

In Edge, select Settings and more
Select Help and feedback > About Microsoft Edge
Allow Edge to install the available update, then select Restart
Return to the affected website and check whether Your certificate choices appears under the site information icon.

I could not find an official Microsoft document confirming that “Reset certificate choices” was removed or renamed. The currently documented certificate policies control automatic certificate selection or prompting when multiple certificates match, but they do not document a policy that hides this particular menu option.

I’m using a laptop managed by my organisation and cannot update MS Edge freely: it will automatically update following the internal patching lifecycle.

We use smartcards similar to PIV that holds multiple X509 certificates to access resources in my organisation.

I was very happy with this new feature as it fixed the issue when the user picked the wrong certificate, mistakenly clicked the cancel button or simply the certificate was not being sent to the web server due to stale TLS cache. I cannot say what was the version of the explorer when I noticed it first.

Since this involves an organization-managed device, smart cards, and access to organizational resources, the behavior could be affected by enterprise policies, certificate configuration, or device management settings that are outside the scope of consumer Microsoft support.

I recommend checking with your organization's IT administrator or Edge enterprise support team, as they can review the smart card and certificate policies applied in your environment.
