I've successfully uploaded images many times in the past. I don't spot how this time is any different than those.

If you are unable to upload that image, it may be in an incorrect file type that is not accepted by Google Photos, right click that file and select Properties, please provide a screenshot of the resulting Properties dialog box.

Properties show .j[g as file type:

It shows JPG as file type, which should be a valid file type for insert, right? But it still doesn't insert it. However, I can copy/paste it!

Sorry, I was offline.

That is very strange if you can copy and paste the image file, but not insert it, it may be a glitch in that app, if this is only occurring in that app, it is not a problem with Windows, are you also able to just drag the image from File Explorer into that app window.

The process that was failing is in Gmail, not in Word. That issue doesn't belong in this forum.
