Does the new Teams Events Discover feed expose events across multtiple orgs sharing a tenant? (MC1227087)

We operate a single Microsoft 365 tenant shared by multiple distinct legal organisations (a common model for regional health alliances, shared services groups and similar consortium arrangements). Anticipating the rollout of the redesigned Events experience in the Teams Meet app (Message Centre MC1227087), we've identified a gap that we'd like to raise with the community and with Microsoft.

The issue: The new Discover feed appears to surface events, including titles and organisers, across the entire tenant. In a single-organisation tenant this is presumably by design. In a multi-organisation tenant, it means staff from Organisation A can see event titles and organiser names for events created by Organisation B, C, D, and so on, with no apparent way to scope visibility to a single member organisation.

This creates an information-barrier and privacy concern for us. Event titles might reference sensitive internal initiatives and organiser names reveal who is running them, none of which should be visible outside the originating organisation.

What we're looking for:

  1. Has anyone else running a multi-org tenant encountered this, and if so, how are you managing it?
  2. Are there any administration controls (Teams admin centre, sensitivity labels, information barriers, or otherwise) that can scope the Discover feed to a department, dynamic group, or organisational unit rather than the whole tenant?
  3. Is Microsoft planning to add scoping controls before this becomes generally enforced, given the current rollout stage?

We'd appreciate hearing from anyone in a similar shared-tenant setup, and from Microsoft if a product manager or engineer monitors this space.

    Hi @Tom Edwards

Please note that this is a user-to-user support forum, and I am not a Microsoft Support representative. I can share information based on Microsoft's publicly available documentation, but I don't have access to Microsoft's internal product information or roadmap.

Based on the information currently available for MC1227087, Microsoft has introduced a unified Events experience in Teams with a Discover feed. Existing webinar and town hall policies continue to apply, but the announcement does not mention any new controls to scope the Discover feed by department, dynamic group, organizational unit, or separate legal entity within the same tenant.

Microsoft does provide audience-based visibility for events. For events restricted to specific people or groups, only the invited users can discover them. However, I could not find documentation confirming that Information Barriers or other administrative controls can be used to create separate Discover-feed boundaries between organizations sharing the same tenant.

For reference, you can review the following Microsoft documentation:

I am also not aware of any publicly announced roadmap item for organization-level Discover-feed scoping at this time.

If you have observed users being able to view events outside their intended audience, opening a support case with Microsoft Support would be the best way to determine whether the behavior is expected and whether any tenant-specific configuration is involved.

For further instructions, you can follow this guide: Get support - Microsoft 365 admin | Microsoft Learn.

I hope this helps clarify the current situation.
