Sending, receiving, and organizing email in Outlook.com
For Outlook.com, this usually means the mailbox is filtering, forwarding, sorting, or storage is blocking delivery rather than Outlook itself.
Try these checks in Outlook.com on the web:
- Check storage first. If Microsoft cloud storage is full, Outlook.com cannot send or receive email, and messages sent while storage was full are bounced back to the sender and are unrecoverable.
- Check Junk Email, Deleted Items, Archive, and any custom folders.
- If Focused Inbox is on, check the Other tab.
- Restore the message list to date order: Filter > Sort > Date.
- Check whether email forwarding is enabled.
- Check for mail rules that might move or hide messages.
- Review Junk Email settings and blocked senders. If a message is in Junk but should not be, mark it as not junk.
- Send a test message from another email account. If the sender gets a bounce or non-delivery report, that helps identify whether delivery is being rejected.
- If a device is the only one affected, removing the partnership between the mobile device and the mailbox can fix sync issues. Since no mail is arriving at all, verify the mailbox directly in Outlook.com first.
If none of those checks finds the missing mail, use Outlook.com support from within Outlook.com: select Help, search for the issue, then under Still need help? select Yes to reach support options.
Reinstalling Outlook does not fix a mailbox-side delivery problem.
