I added outlook 365 to a new computer and wish to add it to my old outlook. I have a pop address on the old one but the new one doesn't support that pop. How can I get a pop with the new system?

Hi Jack Sutz,

The current version of new Outlook for Windows supports accounts that connect through POP. Please open new Outlook, select Settings > Accounts > Your accounts > Add account, enter the POP email address, and follow the prompts.

If Outlook cannot configure the account automatically, please check with your email provider for the correct POP and SMTP server names, port numbers, encryption settings, and whether an app password is required.

If you also need the messages stored on the old computer, that is a separate step. POP mail may be stored locally in an Outlook Data File (.pst). Copying that file can preserve the old Outlook data, but it will not transfer the POP account settings, so the account still needs to be added on the new computer. New Outlook for Windows does not support POP in the traditional way. The practical way to keep using a POP account on Windows 11 is to switch to Classic Outlook.

Steps:

Open New Outlook.
In the top-right corner, turn off the New Outlook toggle.
Outlook restarts in Classic Outlook.
In Classic Outlook, go to File > Add Account.
If automatic setup does not work, select Advanced options > Let me set up my account manually > Connect.
Choose POP or IMAP and enter the mail provider’s server settings.

Important details:

A POP account can be added in Classic Outlook, not New Outlook.
If the old computer used POP, the mail is typically stored locally in a .pst file.
To bring old mail to the new computer, copy the .pst file from the old PC, then in Classic Outlook open it on the new PC.
Common PST location on Windows 11: drive:\Users\<username>\Documents\Outlook Files
Moving the PST transfers old mail data, but does not transfer the account settings. The POP account still needs to be set up on the new PC.

If the New Outlook toggle is missing, a Microsoft Q&A answer indicates reinstalling or enabling Classic Outlook may be required before adding the POP account.
