I have a mac desktop. My hotmail email folders are suddenly empty. How do I retrieve my emails?

    I’m sorry to hear that your Hotmail folders suddenly appear empty.

    Please first sign in directly to Outlook.com using a browser and check whether the emails are still available there. If they appear online but not on your Mac, the issue is likely related to the mail application or synchronization on the Mac.

    If the folders are also empty on Outlook.com, please check Settings > Mail > Rules for any unexpected rules that may be moving or deleting messages. Since several folders were affected suddenly, it would also be a good idea to review your recent sign-in activity and secure the account if you notice anything unfamiliar.

    Could you let us know whether you are using Outlook for Mac or Apple Mail, and whether the emails are still visible on Outlook.com?
