Using New Outlook on Windows for professional communication and productivity
Blocking or unblocking a sender cannot be done from here. In Outlook, blocked senders are moved to the Junk Email folder, and if mail from a blocked sender still appears or does not arrive, the most common checks are:
- In Outlook on the web or new Outlook, go to Settings > Mail > Junk email.
- Check whether the sender address or domain is in Blocked senders or Blocked domains.
- If needed, remove it from the blocked list.
- Check the Junk Email folder.
- If the message is there and it is legitimate, mark it as not junk.
- Check for rules or forwarding that may be moving or hiding the message.
- In Outlook.com, review whether email forwarding is enabled.
- Check whether any mail rules are preventing the message from being seen.
- Check message sorting and folders.
- Review the Other tab and confirm messages are sorted by Filter > Sort > Date.
- Check mailbox and cloud storage.
- If Microsoft cloud storage is full, Outlook.com cannot send or receive email, and messages sent while storage was full are bounced back to the sender and are unrecoverable.
- If this affects only this sender, ask the sender to verify their sending configuration.
- If a specific email is not being received and there is no visible error, the documented step is to contact the sender and ask them to refer to Sender Support in Outlook.com.
- If the sender changes addresses or hides the real sending address, review the internet message headers of a received message from that source and block or allow the real address as needed. If the sender is varying addresses, create an Inbox rule to match common words and handle those messages consistently.
If the issue continues after these checks, use Outlook.com support from the Help pane: select Help in Outlook.com, enter the issue, and if self-help does not solve it, use Still need help?.
