Deleted ALL Resource Groups but still seeing continuous charges in Cost Analysis under the Subscription.

My subscription has NOTHING.
NO RESOURCE GROUP in my subscription.

But still being changed under the name of deleted Resource Groups.

These Resource Groups were deleted 4-5 days back.

These Resource Groups were used for Databricks workspaces.

Azure Databricks
Azure Databricks

    Hello @Arvind Kumar
Deleting the Resource Groups does not necessarily stop all charges immediately, especially with services such as Azure Databricks.

A few things I would check before assuming the deleted Resource Groups are still running:

In Cost Analysis, change the date range to include the days before and after deletion and group the costs by Resource and Resource group. This helps identify exactly which resource is generating the charge.

Check the meter/service name for the new charges. If they are still Databricks-related, look at the Databricks workspace and its associated resources.

Azure Cost Management data is not always real-time. There can be a billing/usage reporting delay, so charges appearing today may relate to usage that occurred before the Resource Group was deleted.

Also check for resources that aren't obvious from the Resource Group view, such as managed resources, disks, snapshots, public IPs, or other subscription-level resources.

If the Resource Group name shown in Cost Analysis is from several days ago and there are no current resources, I would first compare the usage date vs. billing date before deleting anything else.

The most useful clue is the actual Service name + Resource + Usage date behind one of the recent charges. If those charges continue for several days with usage dates after the Resource Group deletion, then I'd raise a Microsoft billing/support request with that information.

If you can share a screenshot of the Cost Analysis breakdown showing the Service/Resource and dates (hide subscription ID or other sensitive information), it would be much easier to tell whether this is simply delayed billing data or an active resource still generating cost.

    Hello @Arvind Kumar

Deleting the resource groups does not immediately remove their names or historical charges from Azure Cost Analysis. Cost Management retains cost and usage records for resources and resource groups that have already been deleted, so seeing a deleted resource-group name in Cost Analysis does not necessarily mean that the resource group still exists or is generating new usage.

There can also be a delay between when usage occurs and when it appears in Cost Management. EA/MCA usage is typically available within 8–24 hours, while Pay-As-You-Go usage can take up to 72 hours. As a result, charges appearing after deletion may reflect usage incurred before you deleted the resources.

Since you deleted the resource groups 4–5 days ago, check whether the cost is still ongoing rather than just looking at the accumulated monthly total.

In Cost Management > Cost analysis, change the granularity to Daily, then group/filter by Resource, Resource type, or Meter. Look at the usage dates of the newest charge rather than the resource-group name.

This is particularly important for your case because these resource groups contained Azure Databricks workspaces. When you delete a Databricks workspace, most compute resources (VMs and disks) are cleaned up, but some resources can remain. For Unity Catalog-enabled workspaces, the default workspace catalog and associated storage/access connector can also remain unless you force-delete the workspace.

So check the latest cost line item and identify its Resource name, Resource type, Meter, Usage date, and Charge amount.

If the newest usage date is from before the resource groups were deleted, you're most likely seeing delayed/historical billing data.

If the usage dates are after deletion and continue increasing each day, then something is still producing billable usage. In that case, check the subscription's Resources view and enable Show hidden types, because subscriptions can contain active hidden resources even when the normal resource view appears empty.

If no resources, including hidden resources, remain but new Databricks-related usage continues several days after deletion, open an Azure Billing support request and provide the Cost Details line items. I specifically recommend a support request when you can't identify usage or charges.

If possible, please share a screenshot of Cost Analysis grouped by Resource or Meter with Daily granularity for the period beginning one day before deletion through today. Please hide your subscription ID and other identifying information. That should tell us whether these are delayed historical charges or new post-deletion consumption.
