Hello Ma'Quarious Lynn Cathey Cathey,
Since the laptop can detect other Wi-Fi networks but not the new Xfinity network, this is likely a compatibility issue between the older Wi-Fi adapter and the router’s current band or security settings.
Could you please provide:
- The Wi-Fi adapter name shown under Device Manager > Network adapters.
- The model of the Xfinity gateway.
- Whether the gateway provides a separate 2.4 GHz network.
- Whether its security mode is set to WPA3 only or WPA2/WPA3 transition.
Older adapters may not detect a newer router configuration even though other devices can. If possible, temporarily enable a separate 2.4 GHz network and use WPA2 or WPA2/WPA3 transition mode rather than WPA3 only.
Please note that Windows 8 is no longer supported, so a compatible updated driver may not be available. If the adapter cannot support the router’s settings, a USB Wi-Fi adapter that supports current standards may be the practical workaround.
