Azure Database for PostgreSQL Flexible Server: Region-access request in East US never escalated to a human

I'm trying to understand if this is expected behavior for Azure support on region-access requests, because it doesn't match the documented 24-48h SLA.

Context: A subscription of ours can't provision Azure Database for PostgreSQL Flexible Server in East US. az postgres flexible-server list-skus --location eastus returns:

"Provisioning is restricted in this region. Please choose a different region. For exceptions to this rule please open a support request with Issue type of 'Service and subscription limits'."

What I did: Opened a support ticket exactly as documented — Issue type: Service and subscription limits (quotas), Quota type: Region access, Service: Azure Database for PostgreSQL flexible server, Region: East US.

What happened: Over 9 days, I received three AI-generated responses (case #2608260040010469), all repeating the same generic instructions I had already followed and explicitly confirmed twice. No human engineer was ever assigned — confirmed directly via the Support API (supportEngineer: {} from start to finish). The case was even auto-flagged for closure citing "no response," despite an active reply from me already on record.

My question: Is there a known escalation path to get a region-access request in front of an actual engineer on the Azure Database for PostgreSQL team, rather than restarting the same automated triage script every 24-48h? Is this the expected support experience for this specific request type (region access), or is something misconfigured on this case?

    Hi @Rafael Ferreira

Thank you for your patience, and I sincerely apologize for the time already spent on this request and for the repeated guidance you received.

Azure Support may initially use AI-assisted support to help address a request. When that guidance does not resolve the concern or further investigation is required, the case can transition to human support. I understand that, in your case, the automated guidance did not address the specific region-access requirement and that you expected human assistance much sooner.

Regarding the PostgreSQL Flexible Server deployment in East US, capacity in the region is currently very limited. To request an exception for deployment in the region, please submit a new Service and subscription limits (quotas) request specifically for Region access.

I realize you have already spent considerable time on this issue, so I apologize for asking you to submit another request at this stage. Please use the following path:

    1. Navigate to this link to start the process:

    https://portal.azure.com/#create/Microsoft.Support

    2. Enter quota in the box and click Go

    3. Select Others / Service and subscription limits (quotas) and click Next

    User's image

    4. Click Create a support request button, as shown

    User's image

    5. Select Issue type: Service and subscription limits (quotas), Subscription, Quota type: Azure Database for PostgreSQL Flexible Server, click Next

    new support request description tab

    6. Now you should be on Additional details tab. Click Enter details

    User's image

    7. For quota type select Region access, select Location, enter expected number of vCores, and then click Save and continue

    quota details flyout

    8. Finish filling out Additional details tab, click Next, review and click Create. You should receive an automated email within a few minutes.

Please note that submitting a region-access request does not guarantee approval. East US capacity is currently constrained, so the request will need to be reviewed based on the available capacity and requested configuration.

Again, I apologize that this direction is being provided only after the extended time you have already spent on the case. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
