How to stop "purchase confirmation update" spam. I have forwarded it to ******@comcast.net, which is actually outlook but it never stops. I have followed instructions such as to go to settings, such as go to tools, the junk email preferences, but I do not have those options on my comcast.net/outlook emails. I get about 5 of these "purchase confirmation" emails per day and it fills up my inbox.

    Hi Lori Guyett,

I can see why this has become frustrating, especially when several of the same messages arrive every day despite your reporting them.

Since the mailbox is a Comcast.net account added to New Outlook, the missing Junk Email options may be related to the account provider rather than the Outlook interface itself. The most effective place to manage the filtering is therefore usually within Xfinity Email.

Please sign in to Xfinity Email in a browser, then open Email Settings > Advanced Settings and make sure the option to automatically move spam and potentially harmful messages to the Spam folder is enabled. You can also open Email Settings > Filter Rules and create a rule based on the sender, domain, or the phrase “Purchase Confirmation Update” in the subject. If the sender address changes each time, a carefully defined subject-based rule may work better than blocking one address.

For messages received through an email client such as Outlook, Xfinity recommends forwarding the spam as an attachment to ******@comcast.net. This preserves the original message information needed for spam analysis. More information is available here:

Set email filters or spam filters in Xfinity Email

Mark and report emails as spam in Xfinity Email

Please do not select links, attachments, or “unsubscribe” options inside these messages if the sender is unfamiliar. Could you also confirm whether the emails always come from the same address or whether the sender changes each time? This will help determine whether an address, domain, or subject-based filter would be the safest option. Thank you so much for your understanding.

For new Outlook for Windows and Outlook.com, the available controls are in Settings > Mail > Junk email. The Tools > Junk Email Preferences path does not apply here.

Use this path to reduce these messages:

    1. Open Settings.
    2. Go to Mail > Junk email.
    3. Under Blocked senders or Blocked domains, add the sender address or the sender’s domain.
    4. Select Save.

To keep legitimate mail out of Junk, use Safe senders and domains in the same Mail > Junk email page.

    Important limits of blocking:

    • Blocking sends future messages from that sender or domain to the Junk Email folder.
    • Spam often keeps coming because senders rotate addresses and domains.
    • In Outlook on the web or Outlook.com, email in Junk Email is automatically removed after 14 days and can’t be recovered after that.

If these messages are newsletters or subscription-type mail, check:

    1. Settings
    2. Mail > Subscriptions
    3. Find the sender and select Unsubscribe

If the spam keeps reaching the Inbox, add broader blocks at the domain level instead of only single addresses when the messages come from the same domain.
