I am trying to download the piano Smartscore demo from Musitek. and in the download folder, I get:
Smartcr64PE.msi isn't commonly downloaded. Make sure you trust SmartScr64PR.msi before you open it.
So it doesn't open, if I reprt as safe, it takes me to a microsoft page, where I choose "I think this is a safe website" and then select letters to prove humanity and submit, but I don't hear anything back. I write to the company and they say to lower my security or turn defender off. I try on a Win7 computer and it quickly downloads but won't open due to a missing DDL or something because of the obsoleteness. I have my friend download on a Macbook pro with no problem
I go to security and add musitek as a safe site, same result. I turn off Windows defender off and same result. Musitek says this is unusual, others don't have this problem. Why can' I get it?
In the download file, it appears as
If I click, it asks what app I want to use to open. Musitek says that is not the fully downloaded file.

So I was able to get past the download problem, and run the demo, try out a lot of things and then decided to buy the product. but when I did so, it wouldn't accept the credentials which I copied and pasted into the box. They said to make sure defender was off, and I am the administrator and I did so but it is still only a demo. they said that it requires a 2-way communication to fully install and something is blocking and they've done all they could and maybe I need to have a computer guru help or take the computer in to solve. Never had such a problem with any other software download.
When you get the notification that it isn't commonly downloaded, click on the three dots and select Keep, then click the drop arrow next to Delete and select Keep anyway.

The file is not fully downloaded. The screenshot shows an *Unconfirmed .crdownload file, which is a partial download, so Windows asks what app should open it because it is not yet a usable .msi installer.
The warning “isn't commonly downloaded” is consistent with Microsoft Edge download protection and SmartScreen. Based on the described behavior, the most likely causes are:
edge://settings/privacy.edge://settings/downloads.edge://policy.edge://settings/system and verify the download URL is not being blocked.edge://settings/privacy.edge://settings/downloads.After the file downloads successfully, if Windows still blocks opening it:
The key point is that the current file is a partial .crdownload, not a complete MSI package. The fix is to identify what is interrupting the download before trying to open it.
