Microsoft Edge: Data Lost in Drop After Edge Drop Discontinuation

Following the discontinuation of the Microsoft Edge Drop feature, I am experiencing a total loss of my synchronized personal files and notes. I have meticulously searched every directory on my OneDrive (including the Recycle Bin and alternative Microsoft accounts) and scanned my local Windows PC storage, yet my data is completely missing. While I understand that product features evolve, erasing unrecoverable user data from backend servers without a clear migration path or warning has caused significant disruption to my workflow and severely compromised my trust in Microsoft’s cloud ecosystem. To resolve this technical issue, I strongly urge your technical team to assist me in identifying if there are any remaining server-side archives, shadow backups, or specific legacy cloud paths where this data can still be retrieved.

    Hello Hadi Iswanto,

I understand how concerning this must be, especially when the missing files and notes are important to your work.

Please note that this is a user-to-user support forum. Moderators and community contributors, including external Microsoft employees, do not have access to account data, Microsoft servers, backend archives, or internal backup systems. Therefore, I'm unable to verify whether any server-side copy of your Edge Drop data still exists or restore it directly.

Since you have already checked OneDrive, the Recycle Bin, your other Microsoft accounts, and the local storage on your PC, could you confirm whether you are currently signed in with the same Microsoft account that was previously used with Edge Drop? Also, were the missing files downloaded or saved to another folder before the feature was discontinued, or were they only accessible through Drop?

For an account-level investigation, I recommend contacting Microsoft Support and explaining that the content was previously stored through Edge Drop. Although recovery cannot be guaranteed, the support team is the appropriate channel to check whether any additional account-specific options are available: Contact Microsoft Support

You may also submit feedback through Microsoft Edge by going to Settings and more (…) > Help and feedback > Send feedback. This will allow the Edge team to review the impact caused by the feature’s discontinuation.

I hope there is still a way to locate your files. Thank you so much for your understanding.
