Outlook for web (browser) cannot save changes to my Safe Senders list

This has recently cropped up. I have my emails set up to go to junk if the sender is not in my contact list or safe senders list. This has worked for years. Recently though, I am unable to save changes to my safe senders list. When I try to do it from within a junk email by selecting "It's not Junk" it gives me an error that says "Can't add to Safe Sender list. We couldn't add this sender. Please try again later".

So...I figure my Safe Sender list is full. I then go to File>Settings>Mail>Junk email. Under "Safe Senders and Domains", I edit the list down, removing a bunch of old addresses. As soon as I click "Save", I get this error: "Couldn't save changes. Something went wrong. Please try again later."

So I am stuck. If my safe sender list is indeed full, I can't remove any entries because it won't allow me to save changes to the list.

    This bug, for most people, is a backend problem. i.e. It's not the size of your Safe/Blocked list or anything you can fix using an Outlook client. It's a problem with how Outlook interfaces to your mailbox on the Microsoft Mail Servers.

    The only known fix is to bring in Microsoft Support:

    • Logon to https://outlook.cloud.microsoft/
    • From the main menu: Help -> ? Help
    • {This should open the Help side panel}
    • Search Help -> {Your problem} and press Enter
    • Still need help? [Yes]
    • If you get "We're here to help": Tell us your problem -> {Your problem, again} [Get Help]
    • [Sign In] {Use any Outlook/Microsoft account}
    • Choose a support option -> Chat with a support agent in your web browser

    If you only need to get an email off your Blocked list, or add to Safe, but can't save changes:

    I have the same problem. It occurs in both Firebox and Chrome browsers. Clearing the cache and saved form data does not help. Logging in and out of my Windows account did not help. None of the suggested measures I have seen helps.

    I was able to use the Outlook Classic application in Windows 11 to edit the Safe Senders and Blocked Senders lists. Expand the ribbon and look under the Delete section to find the icons to edit the lists.

    I removed quite a few entries in order to check if the lists had reached maximum size. I could see these changes in the browser version of Outlook. However, reducing the sizes of the lists DID NOT fix the issue with saving changes in the browser version. Using the desktop version does at least let you fix mistakes if you accidentally added an entry to a list which you need to remove.

    Hello,

    It does appear I am seeing a cluster of reports of such issues here in the forum. I suspect that it has to do with the recent Outlook incident that's not completely cleared as of today.

    You said it didn't work on the web, have you tried email app like New Outlook or Classic Outlook instead?
