I'm a stats teacher at Iowa Central Community College. For a couple of my assignments I have students create pivot tables and I want them to group the data within the pivot tables. Several students do not have grouping as an option anymore. It's not just an error message, the "Group" option is totally missing. I know this has been true for the online version at times, but these students are using the app.

    Hello @Weber, John

Based on the information you provided, I understand that you are experiencing an issue where the Group option is not available when attempting to group data in a PivotTable.

To begin, please ensure that the correct field is selected within the PivotTable before attempting to use the Group feature. If the option is still not visible, you can try using the Search box in the Excel ribbon to look for Group and check whether it appears there.

Additionally, could you please help me gather the following information for further investigation?

    1. What are the Office versions of both the users who are experiencing the issue and those who are not? If any users are not running the latest version of Office, please let me know their build numbers.
    2. Are all affected users working with the same Excel file, or are different files involved? If different files are being used, could a user who does not experience the issue share their file with an affected user and verify whether the Group option becomes available in that file?
    3. When did the issue first occur, and does it affect all Excel files containing PivotTables or only specific files?

I look forward to your update. Any screenshots showing the unavailable Group option would also be helpful for further analysis.
