Modifying assignment details such as instructions, due dates, or attached resources.
Hi Haizi-5922,
At present, Microsoft Teams for Education does not provide an educator-side setting to suppress notifications specifically when a published assignment is edited. Selecting Update may notify students again, and the available Assignment settings only let educators choose the channel where assignment notifications are posted, not disable edit notifications separately.
As a workaround:
- Finalize the assignment details before publishing whenever possible.
- Save the assignment as a draft until it is ready for students.
- Ask students to review their personal notification preferences under Settings and more (...) > Settings > Notifications and activity. However, changing these settings may also reduce other assignment or channel notifications they need.
- Consider directing assignment notifications to a dedicated class channel to keep them separate from regular class discussions. This can be configured under Class team > Assignments > Settings > Notifications for future assignments.
Here’s a resource that provides more insight:
Since a separate control for assignment-edit notifications is not currently available, you can suggest this feature in Teams through Settings and more (...) > Feedback > Suggest a feature.
I hope this information is helpful. Please feel free to share if you would like further assistance.
Wish you a wonderful day ahead.
Kind regards,
