Additional settings-related features and issues within Microsoft Teams for business
Try this in order:
- Sign out of Teams
- In Teams desktop, macOS, or web, select the profile picture at the top of the app, then select Sign out.
- In a web browser, if multiple accounts are signed in, select the specific Teams account and then Sign out.
- Remove the old work or school account from Windows
- Go to Start > Settings > Accounts > Access work or school.
- Select the old training account.
- If Disconnect is available, select it.
- If the account only shows Manage, then complete removal may require the organization’s IT admin.
- If it is listed under personal accounts, remove it there instead
- Go to Start > Settings > Accounts > Email & accounts.
- Choose the account and select Remove account.
- If the old account is a Teams organization in Teams Free, leave that organization
- In Microsoft Teams Free, go to Settings > Accounts and orgs.
- Under Accounts and orgs or Organizations, select Leave next to the organization.
- It can take a few hours to update. Then sign out of Teams and sign back in.
- Add and switch to the account that should be used
- In Teams desktop, select the profile picture.
- Select Add another account.
- Choose an existing account or Create or use another account.
- After adding it, select the profile picture again and switch to the correct account.
- If the sign-in screen asks “Which account do you want to use?”
- That means the same email address exists as both a work or school account and a personal account.
- To stop that prompt, either rename the personal Microsoft account by changing its primary alias, or contact the organization that created the work or school account and ask them to remove the conflicting entry.
- If the old organization still cannot be removed
- For a work or school account, complete removal may require the organization’s IT admin.
- If it is a guest/collaboration organization, self-service leaving may not always be available.
