I am trying to utilize the copilot feature that should be included in my Microsoft Excel, however, copilot for excel is not presenting as an option

    If Copilot is not showing in Excel, check these items in order:

    1. Look for the new Copilot entry point. Copilot may no longer appear where expected. In Excel, the Copilot button is now typically the Copilot Dynamic Action Button in the lower-right corner of the workbook.
    2. Confirm the account and subscription. Copilot might not be included with the Microsoft 365 subscription, or it might be unavailable because of organization settings.
    3. Update Excel to the latest build. In a Microsoft 365 app, install the latest Office updates.
    4. Refresh the license. In Excel, go to File > Account > Update License. Then close and restart all Microsoft 365 apps.
    5. Check the update channel if this is a work or school account. Copilot features are not available in Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel. The device must be on Current Channel or Monthly Enterprise Channel. To verify: File > Account and check Product Information.
    6. Check privacy settings. In Excel, go to File > Account > Manage Settings under Account Privacy. Make sure both of these are turned on:
      • Experiences that analyze your content
      • All connected experiences
    7. Verify Copilot requirements. Copilot in Excel has requirements for app version, license, network, and privacy settings. If those are met and the button is still missing, use the Microsoft guidance for missing Copilot buttons.

    If using a personal Microsoft account, Copilot can also be turned off in the app. In that case, clear or re-enable the app’s Enable Copilot setting as needed.

    Copilot is supported in Excel for Mac, so this may be a local activation issue rather than an unsupported platform.

    Here are some suggestions you can try:

    Sign in to Excel for the web with the same account and open a blank workbook. If Copilot appears there, the subscription is working and the problem is limited to the Mac installation.

    Check whether Excel is using an older one-time-purchase license instead of the Microsoft 365 subscription. This can happen when Office 2021, 2024, or another license was previously activated on the Mac.

    If the wrong license is shown, completely close all Office apps and use the official Office License Removal Tool for Mac. Then reopen Excel and activate it using the Microsoft 365 subscription account. Make sure the account password is available first, because this tool removes all Office licenses from the Mac. Remove Office license files on a Mac

    If Copilot works online but remains unavailable after reactivation, reinstall Microsoft 365 directly from the account’s Services & subscriptions page rather than the Mac App Store.

    For a work account, ask the Microsoft 365 administrator to confirm that Copilot has been provisioned for the user and is not blocked by an organizational policy.
