when i am on a call in Microsoft teams it seems to mute all other sound from the computer (notifications, games, etc.). i have been working at this problem for many months and have checked pretty much every sound setting on win11. this is my last resort before i simply give up and forget about it

    Hi Wesley,

In order to assist you with further accuracy, can you provide some additional information?

    1. Does this happen only in Teams, or does the same full-volume drop happen with other call apps too (Discord, Zoom, Google Meet, a phone call over Bluetooth)?
    2. Have you specifically set "When Windows detects communications activity" to "Do nothing" under Sound settings > Communications tab?

    3. Are you on Teams apps or Teams on the web?
    4. Does it happen with every playback device, or only a specific one (built-in laptop speakers vs. a USB headset vs. Bluetooth)? If this is the case, try to switch between devices.

In the meantime, if it's Teams-only and the Communications tab was already set to "Do nothing" with no effect, please try unchecking "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" in the speaker's Advanced properties tab.
