If the problem is that Teams has no sound output, use this order:
- In Teams, check the selected speaker.
- Before a meeting: Settings and more > Settings > Devices.
- Under Audio > Audio settings, make sure the correct device is selected in Speaker.
- Select Make a test call. If playback works, Teams is using the right output device.
- If already in a meeting:
- Select the dropdown arrow next to Mic.
- Select More actions > Audio settings.
- Under Speaker, make sure the expected device is selected and not muted.
- Check Windows sound output.
- Open Settings > System > Sound.
- In Choose where to play sound, select the correct speaker or headset.
- Make sure volume is not muted.
- If the device is missing, use Add device to pair it.
- If using Bluetooth or wired audio:
- For Bluetooth, make sure the device is charged and not connected to another device, then reconnect it.
- For wired audio, unplug and plug it back in.
- If using Remote Desktop:
- Open Remote Desktop Connection > Local Resources.
- Under Remote audio, select Settings...
- Set Remote audio playback to Play on this computer.
- Set Remote audio recording to Record from this computer.
- If using macOS and Teams notifications or meeting audio are not audible:
- If administrator access is available, open Terminal and run
sudo killall coreaudiod.
- This restarts the macOS audio service. Warning: this is an admin command and will briefly interrupt audio.
- Without admin access, restart the Mac from the Apple menu > Restart.
- For an interview fallback:
- On the pre-join screen, choose Phone audio instead of Computer audio.
- Or, if prompted in the meeting, use Call me back so meeting audio uses the phone while screen content stays on the desktop.
Also make sure Teams and the operating system are fully updated, because current guidance recommends the latest Teams version and the latest Windows or macOS update for best performance.
