Same problem here (on Google Pixel 7a / Android 17). The problem started today. I have also tried "everything", starting with swiping app up (soft close), hard close, delete cache, delete all app data, restarted phone, uninstall + install.

Nothing helped: I can still access my notes via the "Notebook List" (and the notes are syncing fine with my notes on Windows OneNote), but the "Recent Pages" still claims that I'm offline ("Working offline. Sign in to sync your notes.")

And I'm still getting the same "Something went wrong. [9hehw]" when trying to sign in via the shown link-button

Same issue here. Spent half an hour with support, with no further resolution.

Same issue on S26 android. After onenote uninstall, cache clearing, phone restart, onenote install, & login, data is there. However, after closing app & reopening onenote, error message reappears.

Update to my earlier remark in this thread: Earlier I wrote : "I can still access my notes via the "Notebook List" (and the notes are syncing fine with my notes on Windows OneNote)".

But that has changed: Now the syncing fails on the phone - i.e. if I change something in a document in Android OneNote it isn't replicated to my Windows PC OneNote, and in the 'Notebook List' tab in the Android OneNote two of my three notebooks show an exclamation mark (=error) and the third keeps staying in the 'rotating arrows' status (=updating) forever.

I of course don't know if this is directly related, but it isn't great.

Does anybody here experience the same regarding sync ?

Another day where and OneNote Android app is essentially read-only. No answers here or on Reddit, where I have also posted a description of this problem (and where others, like here, are saying they're experiencing the same problem.

Now testing Joplin as a replacement. I realize OneNote is free, and my 365 subscription doesn't provide me with any support for OneNote issues.

Same here starting August-28-2026 so it must be a general error on the part of Microsoft as it was ok yesterday and there were no updates today.

It does work from the list of notes though. If I change a note that is updated fine and I can see the change from my Windows computer.

Only in "Recent Pages" it gives the message that I work off line and need to log in. And when I select Log In it gives the 9hehw error.

Same issue, started yesterday. So glad it's not just me. I have cleared chrome cache (I read it uses that?), reinstalled the app, no difference. To be fair, this app has always been garbage when it comes to sync issues, but this is next level.

Maybe I should switch to Google Notes or another sticky notes app.

Same issue here. I tried practically everything everyone else has stated with no success (just like everyone else).

I just got a new Android phone (Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra) yesterday and discovered this after transferring all apps, etc. from my old Samsung Galaxy S23.

I thought it was something amiss with the transfer. Apparently it's a Microsoft issue.

I sure hope they resolve it soon.

Until the problem hopefully is solved my circumvention is that I find the notes I frequently use and/or update, open them and then click on the 3 vertical dots in the upper right corner. I then click on the "Add to Home screen".
I do that for the few notes I want to be able to access easily and then collect these icons in a folder on the Android Home screen.
I know that this isn't as flexible and automatically as the 'Recent Pages', but since I most of the time actively only use a few notes it is ... as good as possible (for me) with the current problem

My Android phone has this same message but I can still use OneNote seemingly as normal just by ignoring the working offline message. Note that the paragraph below "Working offline" starts with "Sticky Notes can't sync your notes because you are signed out." The relationship between OneNote and Sticky Notes seems somewhat confusing, to say the least. As far as I can understand, Sticky Notes was a separate app that M/S has shoehorned into OneNote. It shows how well these have been integrated if Sticky Notes can remain offline while OneNote is online and sychronising! Personally, I have no use for Sticky Notes and am happy to stick with OneNote.

Issue is not resolved. This is not the first time there are sync problems with one note

Same here and noticed a few days ago as well, tried all reinstall options and glad to hear it's not just me!

At least data is still viewable on the phone, but hoping they release a fix for the sync issue stat since surely so many people have been complaining and no one is hearing back!

This has nothing to do with the model of smartphone you're using. I see a lot of people here using Samsung phones, but I have a Motorola running a recent version of Android and I'm having the exact same problem as everyone else, and it started happening this morning.

I did all the usual hoopla, right through to reinstalling the OneNote app. Still having the same issue which is being reported here.

Clearly this is a problem on Microsoft's end. Hopefully they'll get it resolved soon, but seeing as it's the weekend it may have a slow turn around and need to wait until Monday morning when Bill Gates is back in the office.

Does anybody know whether this problem affects everybody with a personal Microsoft account, or 'only' a subset of all users ? In other words, does any of you know (about) someone using the Android OneNote with a personal Microsoft account which works just fine ?
I'm asking so we can have an idea of the impact/scope of the problem (and thereby how much energy Microsoft will use to fix this problem)

I have the same issue last couple of days. Galaxy A56, Android 16 & One UI 8.5. Tried clearing cache & data, uninstalling app, removing updates from Android System Webview, restarting phone and then reinstalling. Still the same. My Quick Notes can be accessed from the Notebook List but recent pages has the same errors described here. The OneDrive workaround someone mentioned doesn't work for me. I'm guessing this fault relates to an update somewhere along the line so hoping a fix is released soon as I use OneNote every day.

Same issue since this morning, using an S24+. I'm used to the sync issues but this is a different level of mess.

Once the sticky notes are available for copying I'm ditching the app. The stock samsung note app which is free doesn't have nearly as many issues.

I note some commenters here - well, at least one - appears to be reporting that changes (either creating new pages or editing existing pages) on the Android application, are being synced with OneNote. In other words, a change made on the Android app is synced and becomes visible in OneNote's desktop app (the Windows app) or in OneNote's web application.

Interestingly, while I have found that a new page created on my phone does not sync with OneNote, if I edit an existing page, on the phone, that edit will sync with OneNote, and I can see it, in the OneNote desktop app.

As for questions around whether this is device-specific, my phone is a Samsung S24 Ultra. Update: Nearly 12 hours after I created a new page on my phone, using the OneNote for Android app, that page appeared on OneNote's web app, and was synced to the OneNote desktop app. Another new page, also created on the phone, synced almost immediately. Subsequent edits made to pages, whether the edit was made on the phone or the desktop app, are currently syncing and displayed very quickly.

Recent Pages, on the Android app, continues to display the Working offline notice. No Recent Pages are displayed.

Honestly, I don't know what to make of this.

To recap, although the error originally reported still exists, both new pages and edits to existing pages currently appear to be syncing correctly. However, I am experiencing intermittent delays in the syncing.

I do not normally use Sticky Notes, and my testing did not include Sticky Notes. I'll leave that to others who are more familiar with that feature, than I.

Same problem for a few months. Tried Google AI. It took me down many paths, all of which made sense to me. In the end, OneNote still gave this error. Nothing on AI told me this was a documented problem that MS was working on. Thank God I haven't lost data (yet).

It would be nice if the Something Went Wrong screen stated it was known and being worked.

Seeing the same issue as everyone else. I find that my note pages are syncing just fine though. I use the pull down to refresh at the top of the page method. Sometimes need to exit the page and re-enter using the notebook list, then swipe down to refresh. You should see the spinning purple icon. The recent notes list does not update but you can still use them as a shortcut to the pages which are updated, if the one you want to see is there. Not ideal but at least the basic functionality is there until they get to fix it.

The notebooks do sync. However I am unable to open any notebooks in the OneNote app directly, and need to find them in OneDrive app first to open from there.
