You said "LCD shows 1 sheet and one copy from the tool key".
For Canon TS3355, the tool/spanner button is THE SETUP button. When you said the above, I believe you pressed the button because you thought the "1" on the LCD means "1 copy"?? That's the problem. When you press SETUP until 1 appears, you actually selected maintenance function 1, which will print nozzle check pattern. Then pressing black or white causes the printer to print a test sheet instead of copying the document. I bet that was what happened.
I don't think the TS3355 has a document feeder. I don't think there is a copy menu either. This is the instructions I found from Canon: https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/Manual/All/TS3300%20series/EN/UG/ug-005.html
What you should do according to the instruction link I shared right above.
Do NOT press the tool/Setup button
Put the paper in the rear tray.
Put the document face down on the scanner glass.
Close the lid, press black or color directly. That should start copying.
