Additional sign-in or account-related issues within Microsoft Teams for business
Hi @Mark Scott
This usually means the purchase created a Microsoft Entra work identity, but the sign-in identity is unclear or is being treated as a personal Microsoft account. The quickest path is to identify the exact purchaser/admin username, then use that work account to enter the Microsoft 365 admin center.
Please try to recover access to the subscription
- Open the Teams Essentials welcome email and the original order confirmation. Look specifically for:
+Sign-in ID, username, or admin account
+An address ending in @xxxx.com
+An address ending in @<tenant-name>.onmicrosoft.com
+Order number, subscription ID, or tenant ID
Teams Essentials uses Microsoft Entra identity and supports signing in through an existing email address, but the purchase process creates or connects that address to a business identity.

- Please try signing in to the Azure portal using the account that was used to purchase the tenant. You may be able to find the tenant there, create a new user, and assign the admin role to that user.
Please refer: How to find your Microsoft Entra tenant ID
If you can’t access the tenant:
- Try the original purchase email address and password first.
- Search your Microsoft emails for the first setup or billing message that mentions the admin account.
Please let me know more details.
