Exporting Microsoft Whiteboard to PDF via web browser

Hi there,

I regularly use Microsoft Whiteboard for my online classes. We have Office365 or whatever it's called so I can still edit and use it.

However, I download them as PDFs so that my students can copy and paste notes for their own work. I have observed that the export to PDF feature is currently only available on the desktop app. I have tried the print - save as PDF option but that currently shows a blank page. Will this feature become available on the web app, or is there a suggestion that someone else can offer?

Desktop version:

I look forward to a solution to this problem being presented.

Many thanks!

    Hi,

On the web version, you can only export as images. Unfortunately, using the built-in print function will only show a blank page, as it will not show any of your work from Microsoft Whiteboard. This method can only be used in other MS 365 Online apps like Word or Excel.

You can use the free image-to-PDF converter from Adobe or another converter, or use Microsoft 365 desktop to export to PDF, but the image-to-PDF converter may not give you the result you want.

You can send a suggestion or feedback regarding the feature. Please use the Feedback Hub app by following the steps in the link below, or you can send it directly through the MS Whiteboard desktop app.

It may not be the outcome or solution you were hoping for, but I hope this helps address your concern.

    Stay Safe!

    Dear @Katie Jane Németh,

The behavior is expected with the current web version of Microsoft Whiteboard. PDF appears under Quick export in the desktop app, but the web app currently provides only Image and ZIP (HTML + JSON).

To ensure this feature is captured by the engineering team, I recommend submitting feedback. Microsoft places a strong emphasis on customer experience, and all feedback shared by users is taken seriously. Every comment matters, and product teams actively review customer input to help guide future decisions and improvements.

That said, as a Microsoft Q&A forum moderator, I am not involved in product design decisions and don’t have visibility into or influence over the product development roadmap. While I understand this may not be the outcome you were hoping for, please know that your feedback is both acknowledged and valued.

To ensure your request reaches the appropriate engineering team, I highly recommend submitting your idea through Microsoft Ideas · Community, which is the official feedback channel reviewed by Microsoft’s engineering and product teams. If multiple customers raise the same idea, it may increase the likelihood of consideration for future updates.

    How to submit your feedback:

    1. Visit Microsoft Ideas · Community
    2. Select Send Feedback
    3. Share your idea and describe how it would improve your experience

Once submitted, your feedback will be reviewed by the relevant engineering teams and may be considered for inclusion in future product enhancements.

Please rest assured that you’re not alone in requesting this type of functionality. I’ll continue to monitor related discussions, and if any updates or announcements are made regarding this feature, I’ll be happy to share them with the community.

In addition, you can also raise a feedback directly from within Whiteboard: Go to Whiteboard > Settings (gear icon) > Send feedback > Make a suggestion

Thank you for your understanding, patience, and for taking the time to help improve Microsoft products. If you have any further questions or need clarification, feel free to reach out.
