Using Outlook for iOS for personal email and calendar management
Try these steps in order:
- Use the Microsoft sign-in helper first. It checks the account and tells what action is available for the sign-in problem: Sign-in Helper.
- If the phone verification method keeps failing, choose another verification method connected to the account if one is available, such as an alternate email.
- If verification codes are being sent to another Microsoft email address such as Outlook.com, Hotmail, Live, or MSN, open two private browsing windows:
- In the first private window, sign in with the account that is requesting the code.
- Keep that window open.
- Open a second private window.
- In the second window, sign in to the alternate email account that receives the code.
- Copy the code back into the first window.
- If the sign-in page shows Try another verification method or keeps rejecting the phone path, avoid repeated attempts. Too many requests can trigger a temporary block.
- Switch networks and try again once:
- move from Wi‑Fi to cellular, or
- use a different Wi‑Fi network.
- Wait before retrying if many attempts were already made. A temporary block can clear after a day, and in some cases it may take longer. Repeated retries can extend the block.
- If signing in through the Outlook mobile app, use the Microsoft account sign-in helper for personal accounts. If recurring password prompts are happening in the app, install the latest Outlook mobile version.
If the account is a personal Outlook.com/Hotmail account, the issue is usually with verification rather than the password itself.
