Using New Outlook on Windows for academic communication and scheduling
Hi Mennan,
Thank you for sharing the details of your situation.
Based on the available configuration options, there is currently no direct setting to define a custom 45-minute start-time increment on the Personal Booking Page. This appears to be a limitation of the Personal Bookings experience rather than an issue with your configuration.
Here are some workarounds you may consider:
Option 1: Use custom availability on the Personal Booking Page
As a workaround, you can check whether your meeting type allows you to add separate availability windows and configure them as follows:
- Open Microsoft Bookings in Outlook or at book.ms.
- Go to your Personal booking page.
- Edit the meeting type used for your lessons.
- Set the meeting duration to 45 minutes.
- Under Schedule customization or Availability, add separate availability ranges, if supported:
- 10:00 AM–10:45 AM
- 10:45 AM–11:30 AM
- 11:30 AM–12:15 PM
- Save the meeting type.
- Test the public booking link in an InPrivate or Incognito browser window.
This workaround can be inconvenient if your teaching schedule changes frequently, and the available slots may still depend on how Personal Bookings processes the configured start-time increments and your Outlook free/busy calendar.
Option 2: Use a Shared Booking Page with yourself as the only staff member
For your scheduling requirement, a Shared Booking Page is likely the more suitable workaround. Shared Bookings provides a scheduling policy where appointment time increments can be configured from 15 minutes to 4 hours, offering more control over when appointments can begin.
Although it is called a “Shared” Booking Page, you can use it as an individual teacher. You do not need to add multiple teachers or staff members. You can remain the only administrator and service provider.
You may configure it as follows:
- Open Microsoft Bookings.
- Under Shared booking pages, select Create booking page.
- Create the page from scratch and enter a suitable name, such as Chris – Student Lessons.
- Add yourself as the only staff member.
- Create a service named 45-minute lesson.
- Set the service duration to 45 minutes.
- Assign only yourself to that service.
- Go to Booking page > Scheduling policy.
- Set Time increments to 45 minutes, if that value is available in your tenant.
- Configure the required availability, such as 10:00 AM–12:15 PM.
- Save and publish the page, then test the booking link in an InPrivate or Incognito browser window.
Your students will only see the booking page, services, staff, and available times that you publish. They will not be able to view the details of your personal Outlook calendar.
