The updates are tested on literally tens of thousands of different computers, but they all have one thing in common: They are running supported configurations. Therefore, to give yourself the best chance of success with updates:

    • Start with a clean install.
    • Only install on supported hardware.
    • Only install supported software.
    • Only use hardware and software in the way they were designed to be used.
    • Only make changes to your computer that are supported by hardware manufacturers and software developers.

    From the time I learned these lessons, 22 years ago, none of my computers have had a problem with updates.
