I had Notes stored under an Exchange account on my iPhone. I recently signed into/reconfigured that Exchange account, and afterward the notes disappeared. The Exchange folder and my old Notes subfolder are still visible, but the notes inside are gone. Notes is still enabled for the Exchange account. The notes aren't in Recently Deleted, Outlook, or online. I also checked the folder while the phone was offline and they're not there. I need to know whether Apple can determine if the notes are still in the iPhone Notes database or recoverable through synchronization

    Hi matt,

For your concern, Apple Support can help diagnose the Notes/Exchange synchronization configuration, but they cannot perform things like inspect the contents of the iPhone’s Notes database, confirm whether deleted note records remain in that database, or undelete them through synchronization.

In your situation, since you are using a business Exchange account, the most promising supported route to contact your company's IT department and ask the Exchange administrator for server-side recovery. Exchange ActiveSync is a server synchronization protocol, and administrators have separate tools for troubleshooting mobile synchronization and mailbox retention. You can ask them to check:

    • Recoverable or soft-deleted mailbox items.
    • Deleted-item retention, mailbox retention or litigation hold.
    • A backup or point-in-time mailbox restore from before the loss.
    • Items in the mailbox’s Notes-related folders using administrative tools.

Another point to note is that before reaching out to your administrator, I highly recommend stop making changes to the iPhone to avoid unexpected changes that may affect the recovery opportunity.

Hope this information will help you move forward smoothly. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out in the comments of this post. I'm happy to assist you further.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
