Registering devices with Intune for management and policy enforcement
10% free space is low enough that I would recommend freeing additional space before proceeding. Windows feature upgrades can require several GB of temporary working space, and insufficient space can cause the Windows 11 Home-to-Pro upgrade to fail or roll back. The exact requirement varies depending on the device and update path.
For Intune enrollment, limited storage generally does not prevent enrollment itself. However, Intune policies, applications, security baselines, and updates deployed after enrollment can consume additional storage and may fail if the disk becomes critically full.
For Microsoft Defender for Endpoint onboarding, storage is normally not a significant requirement. Defender uses relatively little disk space compared with Windows and applications, although logs, updates, and security components will require some free space.
For Microsoft Entra joining, the storage requirement is also minimal. A device can generally be Entra joined with limited free disk space, assuming Windows is functioning normally.
I would clean up the device first and ideally bring free space to at least 15-20%, preferably more, before upgrading and enrolling it. Remove temporary files, Windows Update cleanup files, unused applications, Downloads, and other unnecessary data. Make sure user data is backed up before performing the Windows edition upgrade. After upgrading to Pro, you can proceed with Entra join, Intune enrollment, and Defender onboarding.
